1987 – The Beginning
- Dr. Ajay Shah started the laboratory in a small premise of 500 sq. ft. area in 1987 with basic blood tests like CBC, ESR and blood grouping.
- Biochemical tests including renal function tests, liver function tests, lipid profile and routine urine examination were done manually by a staff strength of 2 people on basic lab equipment.
- Histology and fluid cytodiagnosis commenced from the very beginning.
1987-1990 – First Automation
- Automation of hematology tests was achieved by a 3-part cell counter ERMA.
- Semi automation in biochemical tests was done with a transition from colorimetry to spectrophotometry.
- Lab expanded to 1000 sq. ft.
1994 – 1997 -Advancement
- Serology tests were started using ELISA.
- Newer biochemical tests were introduced including CPKMB and LDH for ischemic heart diseases.
- Rapid HbA1C test was introduced using Nycocard™.
- Lab Expanded to 1500 Square feet.
1994 – 1998 – Automation In Biochemistry
- Achieved full automation in Biochemical analysis by ErbaXL -300.
1998 – 2000 – Upgradation In Hematology
- Hematology cell counter was upgrade to 3-part SYSMEX.
- Lab expanded to 2000 sq. ft.
- Started new collection center at Magathane Area.
2001 – ISO Accreditation & Microbiology
- Accredited by ISO 15189 for commitment to Quality and competence in medical laboratory.
- Fully equipped department of Microbiology was set up as reference center.
- For the first time in Western suburbs, automated blood culture BACT/ALERT® system by BioMérieux was introduced.
2002 – 2004 – Radio diagnostic Services
- In 2003 expanded to 2500 sq. ft.
- In 2004, in collaboration with Shreeji Diagnostics, we began to provide radio diagnostic services along with Stress test at main laboratory in DAHISAR.
2005 -2006 – NABL Accreditation ( M -0522 )
- Accredited by NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories) for the global standards of Quality in laboratory processing.
- For the first time in western suburbs, fully automated Immunoassay analyzer by Bayer Advia Centaur was started for hormones & cancer markers.
- D-10 TM System by BIO-RAD was installed for full automation in HbA1C estimation by high performance liquid chromatography.
- Fine needle aspiration cytology procedures and reporting were started.
2007 – Advancement In Hematology And Biochemistry
- Hematology analysis was upgraded to BECKMAN COULTER® 5 Part hematology Analyzer.
- SYNCHRON® System by BECKMAN COULTER® was installed for advanced biochemical analysis.
- Access 2 Immunoassay System Analyzer a powerful and reliable benchtop immunoassay analyzer featuring a space-saving design, user-friendly features and a complete menu of more than 50 tests was introduced including hormones, cancer markers and vitamins.
2008- 2009 New Collection Centers
- Collection center started at Anand Nagar, Dahisar east.
- Radio diagnostic services were shifted to Kala Diagnostics.
2010 – PCS Lab Plus™ Software & New Premises
- PCS Lab Plus™ Laboratory information system was acquired which is a high-performance software solution that manages specimen data from requisition entry through specimen tracking to final cumulative report production.
- Establishment of new expanded 2 storey premises, equipped with bidirectional fully automated Integrated Biochemistry & Immunoassay analyzer by Abbott.
- New collection centers were set up in Borivali East and Rawalpada area.
- In 2010 the lab was certified by NABH
2011
- Venturing further, HPLC (high performance liquid chromatography) was started for thalassemia and other abnormal haemoglobinopathies
2012
- In a massive leap, Siemens’ high-volume hematology analyzer, the ADVIA® 2120i System was installed. It was the first research unit to be acquired by a stand -alone private laboratory.
- Started new collection centers at Kanderpada, Dahisar.
2013 – Molecular Testing
- Venturing in to molecular testing Line Probe Assay by BioMérieux was introduced to detect drug resistant tuberculosis.
2014
- Advancing further we acquired automated BD BACTEC™ MGIT™ System for TB culture. It is a liquid Culture Technology which provides faster and more accurate results than traditional TB diagnostic methods.
- Vitek 2 AST detection system was installed for rapid, accurate susceptibility test results and resistance detection in clinically relevant bacteria and yeasts.
- Improved fully integrated biochemistry system in 2014
2015
- Revolutionizing in molecular era, we started GeneXpert® a fully integrated and automated on-demand molecular diagnostic system for point of care testing of TB bacteria, as well as testing for resistance to the drug Rifampicin.
- A new collection center at Penkerpada was established.
2016
- To achieve automation in coagulation studies, STA Satellite by Stago was set up. It is a fully automated benchtop analyzer capable of simultaneously performing clotting, chromogenic, and immunologic assays.
- Improved fully integrated biochemistry system in 2014
2017
- We have started a new venture in collaboration with Shivani scientific, the first of its kind andrology laboratory in the western suburbs – ‘Wonder sperm’ at main laboratory. This lab has state of art equipment and it aids in evaluating male infertility by objective semen analysis with the help of CASA, semen wash, sperm function test and advanced tests like anti sperm antibody and DNA fragmentation.
2018
- Ventured into immunohistochemistry (IHC) for cancer diagnosis and liquid based cytology (LBC) for cervical cancer screening in women.
